Artifacts of Long Ago ~ This still life began with an old original deed dated in 1772, for a piece of property purchased by one of my ancestors, John Nichols. He purchased 72 acres in what is now Massachusetts, for the sum of "thirty and four pounds". I added in a few other family artifacts from long ago, and recently changed it all to black and white.
The First Laptop ~ This bas relief sculpture was from Ancient Greek times, seen at the Getty Villa Museum in Malibu, California. I noticed the woman, accompanied by her attandant, who is holding what I interpret to be "the first laptop". I got a kick out of it, and had to photograph it.
A play on the title of the 1964 Bel Kaufman novel, "Up the Down Staircase." This a view looking down the spiral staircase in the Old Point Loma Lighthouse, Cabrillo National Monument, San Diego. I took this several years ago on a visit there one Thanksgiving weekend. The whole area was very busy with holiday visitors, and it took some doing to get the staircase with no one in view!
