~ Built in 1890, on the foggiest and windiest area in California, on a cliff close down by the water, to be visible to seamen navigating through the fog and along the coast in a rough storm. It is in Marin County, north of San Francisco. To reach the lighthouse, one must climb a steep descent down 315 steps (and back up!). Judith Sparhawk
Trinidad Memorial Light ~ In Trinidad, California, built in 1949, in memory of sailors lost at sea.
~ Crescent City, California. This lighthouse was built in 1856, reactivated in 1982. It is one of only three surviving from the original series of California lighthouses.
