Russian Orthodox Chapel, Fort Ross, CA ~ On the fog-shrouded coast of northern California, Fort Ross Historic State Park is on the site of the old Russian outpost and company, active from 1812 to 1841. The chapel is one of four structures enclosed in the fence that protected the post during that time. Above Bodega Bay, this was the southern-most post of the Russian colonization in the Northwest.
