Ceiling Detail at the Getty ~ This shot is from the main lobby area, looking up at the ceiling. The weather was threatening a rainstorm, but later in the afternoon, blue sky came through, as shown in this view.
~ This is a view of the wooden "awning" over and around the restaurant and cafe. at the Getty Museum. Awning is an inadequate word to describe the beautiful sweep and lines of this architectural detail.
~ This museum and art center is familiarly called "The Getty". It is built of huge blocks of travertine marble from a quarry outside Rome. I like the way the angles and curves of this ceiling detail form an interesting abstract, with clean and simple lines.
