Judith Sparhawk > Cypress Grove in the Morning Light ~ This grove of cypress trees runs along the beach on Morro Bay. I have photographed this grove before in the fog, but had never seen it in the early sun, reflected in puddles. It was a completely different sight, which I liked a lot.
Judith Sparhawk > Desert Sunset ~ It is monsoon season in the southwest deserts, with amazing clouds in the sky daily. Most days I was in the mountains, and missed the sunset moments. I was finally in the town of Sierra Vista, with a promising sky. I drove all over, trying to find a spot without any telephone poles and wires, and waited for the sun to go down. I was happy with the resulting sunset shot.
Judith Sparhawk > Rainbow in the Desert ~ Driving on Elgin Road out of Sonoita, Arizona, this beautiful rainbow developed over the summer-green desert landscape. I finally found a place to pull off the road to capture the moment.
Judith Sparhawk > Lake Louise View ~ Beautiful Lake Louise, reflecting the slopes and mountain peaks.
Judith Sparhawk > Morning in Johnston Canyon ~ Around the Banff National Park, there are enormous craggy peaks everywhere you look. This is one viewed while exploring Johnston Canyon one early morning as the sun rose.
Judith Sparhawk > Lake Louise Reflections ~ It was a cloudy and overcast day, and I wondered out loud whether Lake Louise could possibly have its famous turquoise-blue color without a shred of blue sky overhead. Yep, it sure did! Early morning, the lake was glass-smooth, and the reflections were amazing.
Judith Sparhawk > Lake Moraine ~ The lake is surrounded by craggy peaks, and has the turquoise-blue color in the water. A hike around the lake afforded beautiful views.
Judith Sparhawk > Lake Moraine View ~ A red canoe heads through the reflection of the snow packs on surrounding cliffs.
Judith Sparhawk > Glacial Landscape ~ Driving up the Icefields Parkway between Banff and Japer, views of lakes and glaciers abound.
Judith Sparhawk > White Sands Dawn ~ My first visit to White Sands National Monument, New Mexico. I got everyone up extra early so we could be there by sunrise. I had mental images of pink glow on the white sand dunes. Unfortunately, there was cloud cover over the rising sun, so a little pink in the outlying clouds was as good as it got. Still, it was beautiful, and a wonderful visit.
Judith Sparhawk > White Sands ~ Early on a VERY OLD January day, the dunes were frozen, so walking on sand was "crispy", easy, barely leaving footprints. Benefits: no one else out there; Not so great: frozen hands on the camera!
Judith Sparhawk > Sunrise at White Sands ~ Nice color in the sky, despite clouds covering the rising sun. Amazing white sand dunes to explore, climb, photograph.
Judith Sparhawk > Patterns in the Sand ~ Wonderful textures in the sand dunes, frozen in place on the early mornng shoot. I liked the contrast of the white dunes and the mountains beyond.
